‘Pandora’s Box’ drawing on Facebook

Want a free signed copy of Pandora’s Box? All you have to do is join its Facebook page!

Starting today, the next 10 people who “Like” my novel on its page will be entered into a drawing for a free signed copy. There are, however, some rules I would like to lay down for this:

1. You can’t “un-join” the page and then rejoin to be entered.
2. The drawing has no set time. It will be held once I have 10 names (so please be patient).
3. You can enter even if you already have a copy of the book (though I’d then suggest you give one copy to someone as a gift).
4. Unless I see you in person, you must provide me with your mailing address so I can send you your book (I’ll cover shipping).
5. I reserve the right to refuse to send you a book and draw another name.
6. Leaving the group before the drawing disqualifies you from winning.

I may add more later, but that’s all I have for now.

So go join the book’s Page here.

‘PANDORA’S BOX’ NOW AVAILABLE!

Mr. Hades at Absolute XPress, the publisher of my novel, surprised me today.

PANDORA’S BOX IS NOW AVAILABLE!

You read that right. The book has been released early. I don’t know how or why, but it has been. There’s still no info on it on the publisher’s website, but you can buy it on Amazon here. It’s a bit more expensive than the suggested retail price, but that may have to do with fees or whatnot that Amazon has to pay.

A few years ago when my friend Nick Hayden published his first novel, I said you’d know you made it as a writer when you were on Amazon. I said that not sure I could repeat his accomplishment.

Now I’m flabbergasted.

God has funny ways of surprising me.

So please do me a favor, “True Believers”–GO BUY MY BOOK!

More book signings scheduled

The last few days, I have been making stops at and calls to many libraries and bookstores in my area to ask them if they’d be interested in holding a book signing for me. I am excited to report that most of them have, at least, tentatively scheduled one for me. I have a regular book signing tour forming.

While details need to worked out with some of them, these tentative dates and locations are:
Friday, November 12, 6 p.m.-8 p.m. – Hyde Brothers Bookstore in Fort Wayne, Indiana
Saturday, November 20 – Village Books in Fort Wayne, Indiana
December (Date TBA) – Noble County Public Libraries in Noble County, Indiana

I am also in talks with the Allen County Public Library in Fort Wayne, Indiana, about holding a signing.

So, as of now, my book signing “tour” tentatively looks like this:
November 6 – Summer’s Stories
November 12 – Hyde Brothers Bookstore
November 13 – North Webster Community Public Library
November 20 – Village Books
December (TBA) – Noble County Public Libraries

Once dates are set in stone, you’ll be sure to to hear about it, so keep checking for more updates.

WELCOME!

Greetings, readers, and welcome to The Worlds of Nathan Marchand! Don’t know who I am? Read my biography.

After a week of construction, my site is worthy of unveiling. Below this entry you will find three of my poems. If you’d like to read some of my short stories, click here. I don’t have many works posted right now, so please be patient.

I hope to have a synopsis of my upcoming novel, Pandora’s Box, posted soon, as well as its first chapter. Once I coordinate things with the publisher, that all should fall into place.

I will also use this site to announce any appearances I plan to make, book signings I hold,  writers’ conferences I attend, and/or other news. So, be sure to check back often to see what’s up and what’s going down!

I intend to keep working on the site, so I would love to hear what you think of it. Any suggestions on how to improve the site would be much appreciated.

For now, enjoy my site! Feel free to explore.

Valor’s Heart

Valor’s Heart
by Nathan Marchand

Endure! Endure!
Though burning arrows pierce my chest,
Poisoned swords cut my side,
And traitors’ knives stab my back.
Yet will my Valor’s Heart,
a gift of my King,
Fight on.

Hold the line! Hold the line!
Let not the Enemy advance
To steal, kill, and destroy!
I hold back the black torrent
As red rain pelts my face.
He shall not pass so long
As my Valor’s Heart beats.

I fall! I fall!
To my knees, sword in hand,
Stained with my crimson life-blood
Mingled with my Foe’s black blood.
My strength is spent, my time has come
To exit this stormy stage.

The Enemy laughs as his
black sword plunges into my chest
But though he slays me
My Valor’s Heart still boom-boom-booms
Like a war drum drowning the battle’s thunder,
Summoning my King’s warriors to the line,
the Enemy of my Soul shuttering at their battlecry.

Rest now, rest.
I return to my King
But Death has lost his victory,
His sting is dull.
And my Valor’s Heart,
a gift of my King,
Still rallies His warriors
’round its thunder.

Coma

Coma
by Nathan Marchand

I lie upon a deathbed,
My life-thread pulled taut against
The edge of the Fates’ knife.
Scorned by the hellcats and scoundrels
Who beat me and left me to die,
I cling to life thanks only to
The brave and persecuted few
Who still love me.
I am Chivalry,
And I am not dead, but asleep.
